Trauma Informed Somatic Guidance

What is it?

Somatic guidance is a one to one session in which you can safely explore issues relating to your body and/or mental health and create individualised practices and tools to allow you to navigate everyday life in a more balanced way. Our sessions take place in the safety and comfort of our Sheffield based therapy room where you’ll be welcomed into a calm, relaxing space.

​Our somatic sessions use ‘The Self Holding Method’ of SOMAMYSTICA - which gently guides clients back to equilibrium of the body-mind through a bridge of science, psychology and esoteric practice. This supports the conditions for growth, activation of natural healing and deeper embodiment. This is a compassionate space, providing you with emotional support to help reset an overstimulated nervous system.

Each session begins with a consultation  in which your current concerns and desired outcomes are discussed. The sessions are client - focused meaning that the content of each session will be guided by your individual needs. Sessions may include a combination of visualisations, meditation, breathing practices, yoga poses, sitting with and discussing sensations within the body or emotions, creation of a safe space and learning of tools you can take away. All of this is designed to help support the nervous system to safely unwind trauma related tension and emotional blockages. But not just within the session; somatic guidance enables you to create your own toolbox of resources that you can take away and use in everyday life.

In our peaceful and relaxing therapy space we have a comfortable seating area as well as a therapy table and floor space with a yoga mat to host your session. You'll be offered a choice of warm and cold drinks including a selection of yogi teas.

These sessions are suitable for anyone who is seeking to re-balance or create a greater sense of connection between body and mind. This type of session is particularly useful for those seeking to support recovery from chronic stress, anxiety, CPTSD and depression and works well as an addition to other talking therapies or trauma therapy. Your therapist is trauma informed meaning her training has been specifically tailored to be sensitive to the issues facing those who have experienced trauma. Somatic guidance  is also beneficial for those struggling pain management, fatigue and conditions such as fibromyalgia where bodies are presenting physical symptoms that may be connected to something occurring internally.

Sessions can be held as one off appointments but are most beneficial when used in blocks or in conjunction with the other therapies we offer such as Sekhem, Reiki healing and massage. We offer discounted prices for block bookings and packages. For further details click here
