Wrapped in Renewal - Rebozo
What is it?
Wrapped in Renewal is a deeply nurturing treatment using gentle wraps, sometimes known as rebozos, a Spanish word meaning shawl or wrap.
Traditionally, the rebozo has been used in parts of Central and South America during ceremonies of healing, closing, and transition. This modern adaptation (a rebozo-inspired wrap renewal) supports the body in a natura and restorative way. Through the use of cloths to wrap, rock, and hold the body, it symbolises a passage of renewal and offers grounding during times of change.
Most commonly known for its use in the Closing of the Bones ceremony after childbirth (a ritual that honours the movement from labour and birth into motherhood), this adapted approach can also be offered in other aspects of life. Wrapped in Renewal honours and supports many other major life transitions, such as menopause, hysterectomy, loss, trauma, or personal transformation.

The Treatment
The Wrap Renewal Treatment is a two-hour, bespoke session created to support your individual needs, journey, and point of transition. It begins with a quiet space to discuss and explore your intention for the treatment, a safe, held, and confidential environment where you can arrive fully into the experience.
Each treatment is unique, but may include gentle, supportive massage, often focusing on the abdomen (an area associated with deep breath, emotion, and grounding). The abdominal massage supports the diaphragm, the lower abdomen, and the womb centre (areas that can hold emotion or tension). The touch is light yet balancing, working on both a physical and energetic level.

Massage may also include the back body, especially around the sacrum and pelvis, or be adapted to focus on other areas such as the face, neck, hands, or feet.
For those who prefer not to have direct skin contact, the treatment can be fully adapted, working through clothing or a sheet from a trauma-informed perspective.

The final stage is the wrapping, using several cloths to cocoon and hold the body in a soothing, nurturing, and supportive way. You will be gently rocked throughout this process, allowing a deep sense of being held and contained. Before the wrapping begins, you will be given space and privacy to redress comfortably.
Each wrap is then slowly released, one by one. The untying of each knot symbolises movement from one phase of life to another, creating space for renewal, restoration, and integration.
This is a safe and nourishing ceremony, a moment to pause, honour your body’s story, and mark your passage with care.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Do I need to undress for the treatment?
A: You will be given space to redress comfortably before the wrapping. The preparatory massage can be adapted to your comfort level, and for those who prefer not to have direct skin contact, it can be performed through clothing or a sheet.
Q: Why include massage?
A: Massage is included to support the body in softening and releasing tension before the wrapping begins. Gentle abdominal and back massage helps to calm the nervous system, deepen the breath, and bring awareness to the womb centre and pelvis, areas that often hold emotion or strain. This stage prepares the body to relax more fully into the wrapping, allowing the treatment to be both grounding and restorative.
Massage can also be focused on the hands or feet instead, or omitted altogether if preferred, ensuring the treatment always feels safe and comfortable for you.

Q: Will the treatment be physically or emotionally intense?
A: The treatment is gentle and supportive. While it can release stored tension or emotion, it is always delivered in a safe, held, and trauma-informed way. You are in control at all times, and the session is tailored to your needs.
Q: What happens during the wrapping?
A: Several cloths are used to cocoon and support your body while you are gently rocked. The wraps are then released one by one, symbolising movement from one stage of life to another. The process provides a sense of renewal, restoration, and integration.
Q: How is the treatment personalised?
A: Every session begins with time to discuss your intention and needs. The massage, wrapping, and overall flow of the session are then tailored specifically to your journey and point of transition.

Q: Is this a spiritual or religious practice?
While inspired by traditional rebozo use in Central and South America, this treatment is secular and inclusive. It focuses on physical, emotional, and symbolic support rather than any particular spiritual or religious practice.
Q: How long is the session, and what should I wear?
A: The Wrap Renewal Treatment is two hours long. Comfortable, loose clothing is recommended, and you will have private space to redress before the wrapping stage.
Q: Can this treatment help with trauma recovery or emotional release?
A: Yes. The treatment is delivered with a trauma-informed approach, creating a safe and contained environment. It can support the body in releasing stored tension and emotions, and help clients feel grounded, supported, renewed and empowered.
